Actually, I don't follow baseball at all but found the puzzle easy. Got the names from all crosses. Thanks for the puzzle, Rex. I do have one mine beef, though. "Upsa Daisy?" I think that must be a regionalism. I have always heard of it as "Upsy Daisy."

Tom44, interesting thought about regionalisms in that expression. Cruciverb database prefers UPSA (to UPSY) by a slim margin. I think before I wrote this puzzle I might have been inclined to agree with your preferred spelling ... :)

that's because constructors prefer A to Y for filling in a grid. i bet if you surveyed constructors and editors, though, you'd find that they prefer UPSY to UPSA in a vacuum.

Well, of course. Nobody likes UPSA in a vacuum. Tends to cause jamming and general vacuum failure.
