Saturday, April 30, there’s a multi-city puzzle hunt going on called DASH.
As the DASH folks say at their website, playdash.com, “A puzzle hunt, a unique type of treasure hunt, is a fun, interactive, outdoor event in which teams of players race to find and solve creative puzzles hidden in different locations. From fictitious graveyards to s’mores designed in morse code to music clips containing a hidden message, anything is possible to encounter when playing in the DASH puzzle hunt.”
There will be simultaneous DASH hunts going in the following cities:
- New York, NY
- Los Angeles, CA
- Chicago, IL
- Boston, MA (full!)
- Washington, DC
- Seattle, WA (full!)
- Portland, OR (full!)
- Austin, TX
- San Diego, CA
- San Mateo, CA (full!)
- Santa Rosa, CA
- Davis, CA
Are you in one of those areas? Then you can round up a team (or get hooked up with a team that needs another player) and participate! Registration fees vary by city.
I’m halfway thinking of doing DASH myself!
Still on the fence? Then Read Tyler Hinman’s preview of the event for Wired magazine. Tyler interviewed DASH founder Debbie Goldstein.
For what it’s worth, I’m forming a NYC team with two other crossworders (names withheld to protect the guilty). Teams can be of up to six people, so if you’re interested in joining up with us, let me know ASAP!
Neville, I’m definitely interested — I just need to make sure my friends aren’t already doing the dash on their own. (I like the level of difficulty on their hunt, for what it’s worth; their CSI: Orlando puzzle from last year was a blast.)
I wish someone would put together something like this that required considerably less walking, for people like me who aren’t as spry as they used to be. For that matter, I was never as spry as I should’ve been.
Agree with HH. Alas, too much walking for me.
