The brilliant Francis Heaney has assembled 20 pages of crosswords and variety puzzles (along with trivia and a Paint by Numbers puzzle), and the PDF can be yours with a $10 donation to any of the following organizations: the ACLU, Council on American-Islamic Relations, EarthJustice, Lambda Legal, the NAACP, National Immigration Law Center, Planned Parenthood, the Southern Poverty Law Center, the Trevor Project, and the TransWomen of Color Collective. Donate $25 or more, and Francis will throw in a PDF of Idiosyncrossies, a collection of some of his Onion AV Club crosswords.
The puzzles are by Francis himself along with Erik Agard, Patrick Blindauer, Peter Gordon, Andy Kravis, Andrea Carla Michaels & Jonathan Gersch, Tony Orbach, Erin Rhode, Ben Tausig, Patrick Berry, Emily Cox & Henry Rathvon, Mark Halpin, Robert Leighton (with cartoons!), Joon Pahk, Mike Selinker, Amy Goldstein, and Noah Tarnow. How can you resist? (… By supporting the organizations above, of course!)
Visit the Puzzles for Progress page for links to the donation sites, instructions for getting your puzzle packs, and the lowdown on which kind of puzzles each of the acclaimed constructors has made.
Also! If you make a donation below that $25 mark, let me know via email (firstname.lastname@gmail.com—you can make the substitutions, right?) to be entered into a drawing to receive my copy of Idiosyncrossies. If you missed out on the golden era of Onion crosswords, you have a lot of great Heaney puzzles awaiting you.
Thanks, folks.
Thanks for posting this, as I’d never have stumbled on it. The idea is inspired, and it inspired me to make a donation forthwith. I’ll feel quite virtuous as I work my way through the puzzles.
Thank you Francis for both books. The pai t by number is great!!
