Caleb Madison may be only a teenager, but he’s a gifted crossword constructor who is once again teaching a class for older adults called Get A Clue! A Comprehensive Course on Crossword Construction. The puzzles co-created by Caleb and his previous students were published in the New York Times on January 14 and August 24, and this fall’s class will also submit their crossword to Will Shortz.
If you’re in the New York area and are at least 55 years old, consider signing up for the J.A.S.A. (The Jewish Association for Services for the Aged) fall semester crossword course, Sunday afternoons from September 19–December 19. It’s a terrific opportunity to get hands-on lessons in crossword construction.
The class location is in Midtown. You can get more information and the registration form in the course catalog (PDF here). Caleb’s class is listed on page 5.
