Title: “I’ve Got a Feeling” by Pete Muller and Andrew White
Prompt: The meta for this puzzle is a hit song from 2021 that’s also the name of a well-known album.
Answer: “Deja Vu” by Olivia Rodrigo (song) / and CSNY (album)
I’m really on Pete’s wavelength lately — or rather on Pete and co-constructor Andrew White’s wavelength. They co-author the very entertaining Washington Post Daily Mini-Meta together, and teamed up for this meta as well.
Left-right symmetry in this grid, which, along with the title, made me wonder if we were looking for letters placed as mirror images of each other. Then I hit the reveal entry at 48-D and 50-D, clued just as [Reflections]. Emboldened by this to continue with my original idea, I checked for letters that appear as pairs on either side of the eighth column, and lo and behold, there it was! Sometimes the meta is the first thing you think of. But fewer that 300 right answers just before deadline, so this was no gimme.
The streak continues! Time is short so I’ll have to leave it there. See you next month.
Thanks Matt
An even 300 correct this month.
Evan Birnholz mentioned that you ran a similar theme in 2015 with various symmetric objects and the meta answer was DUMBBELL.
Happy summer all!
Ah, had forgotten that and don’t even recall it after looking it up. But must’ve been in there somewhere since I got this one quickly…can’t call it a sense of deja vu though…
